In the injection molding process for plastics, the mold opens and closes at regular intervals so that parts can be removed from it. Hot steam at a temperature of 240 degrees Celsius is conducted through the flexible swivel joint in order to keep the mold at the right temperature at all times and liquefy the plastic granules.
The high temperature and high number of motion cycles present a unique challenge. Our customer uses the EZM VAG joint with two ball races made of St52 steel in dimensions ranging from DN50 to DN150.
